2018 Sounders FC 2 full-season media credentials will be issued only to accredited members of the media. Season credentials will be issued only to legitimate news gathering organizations that cover S2 on a regular basis. To apply for full-season media credentials, please complete the form linked HERE. S2 will be very selective in issuing season credentials to online-only publications; however, those denied may apply for single-match credentials.
Single-match credentials will be issued to those individuals or organizations who do not qualify for season credentials, including freelance writers, most bloggers and reporters for weekly/monthly shows and publications. Single-match credentials will also be issued to radio and TV stations when the need arises for extra pre/postgame personnel and to newspaper reporters providing extra coverage. Once a single-match credential request is approved and on file, the S2 staff require at least a 24-hour notice for all daily credential requests. All weekend requests should be made by 3 p.m. on the Thursday prior.

Media members who have repeatedly or knowingly violated established media guidelines and protocol or acted inappropriately at any USL matches or events at Cheney Stadium may be added to a Credential Review List that is maintained by the League Office and shared with all USL teams. Media members under review may lose accreditation privileges to USL events due to repeat or overt offenses.
Reasons to Add a Media Member to the List
- Excessive verbal abuse toward USL or team staff
- Asking for autographs or personal photos of players or coaches at media events (training, news conferences, games, etc.)
- Conducting unauthorized interviews
- Passing a credential to another individual with the intention of deceiving USL or team staff
- Persistent unprofessional behavior, such as:
- Regular encroachment into restricted areas
- Cheering in the press box
- Consumption of alcoholic beverages
- Asking inappropriate questions unrelated to sports or the event
- Escorting unaccredited third parties to media areas
- Failure to abide by posted rules
- Repeated offenses, inappropriate or unprofessional behavior, after being verbally reminded of media guidelines
Upon approval of credential request, media members may pick up daily credentials at the Cheney Stadium Box Office Will Call window during normal business hours or beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the match. A valid photo ID will be required upon pickup. Any special pickup requests should be sent via email to email@example.com.
There will be a limited number of media parking spots made available for every S2 game. All media members with credentials for a given match will have their names placed on a parking list. Those picking up daily credentials will have their names added to the parking list only if they have provided a 24-hour notice.
Media should park at the far end of the Cheney Stadium parking lot, behind the third base line nearest the batting cages (highlighted in green on the map). Media are permitted to park in the final two rows of parking spots.
The press box is located along the third base side of Cheney Stadium on the ballpark’s second level, and opens three hours prior to first kick. It is a working press box for WORKING MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA ONLY. Due to space limitations, there is always a possibility that credentialed media will not be stationed in the primary press box but at an auxiliary area. S2 have provided wireless internet access available for those in the press box as well as those assigned to the auxiliary area. Rosters, lineups, match notes and team statistics will be available in the press box two hours prior to the scheduled match time.
A media member may post a reasonable number, as determined by the USL, of photographs each day on its website. Any photograph posted on a media member’s website or otherwise transmitted online may be used only for editorial coverage of the USL Game and not for any commercial, advertising or promotional purpose.
Photo agencies will only receive accreditation when on assignment. Photo bibs, which will be provided by the team, are required for any photographer wishing to shoot the game.

Cameras in the Locker Rooms
Videographers are permitted in the S2 locker room following the game only, and must be accompanied by a reporter. STILL PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT PERMITTED ACCESS TO EITHER LOCKER ROOM AT ANY TIME.
Photographer and Camera Operator Guidelines
All photographers and television camera operators must stay behind the field boards at all times, unless released by the on-site photo marshal.
Each photographer will be permitted to use one monopod, but no tripods. No seats other than “lawn-type” photographer seats will be permitted. Stand-alone remote units may be used, but only with approval of team PR, stadium operations and referees.
Photographer Access to Field
Photographers and camera operators shall be permitted in the area between the field boards and the touch lines in the area bounded by the top of the 18-yard box and the end line (a C-shape that extends from the top of the 18, back behind the goal, and to the top of the 18 on the opposite side of the field). Once situated, no movement between the two halves of the field shall be permitted until halftime. No photographers shall be allowed to move from end to end on the bench side of the field.
Under no circumstances are credentialed media members permitted to seek autographs, personal photographs, balls, cleats, etc. on the field of play or in either clubhouse. Violation of this policy will result in the dismissal of the media member from Cheney Stadium and confiscation of the violator’s media credential(s).
